Ellen Nirhamo

My name is Ellen Nirhamo and I am a member of the board of the association for people with restricted growth in Finland. I have been active in the association for 10 years. I am studying to become a M.Sc. Economics and a M.Soc.Sc.

Lyhytkasvuiset - Kortväxta ry is an association for people with restricted growth and their families and friends. We have about 600 members, one employee and dozens of volunteers. The association is 38 years old, which means, in a couple of years we will celebrate 40 active years of the association. The purpose of the association is to advocate for people with restricted growth. We have made official statements about nationally centralized healthcare and the correct use of terms. We have had the great opportunity to work with medical professionals in different projects related to restricted growth. We also organise different events for our members, to offer peer support and advice.
